23/05/2024 : CELTIC V THE RANGERS (SCOTTISH CUP FINAL) SATURDAY 25th APRIL 2024
There are no second chances in the cup...
CELTIC V THE RANGERS , SCOTTISH CUP FINAL, SATURDAY 25th MARCH - KICK-OFF @ 16:00
LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER (see WHERE-page)
It’s the final day of the season, the cup final, and Joe Hart’s final match, as we face up to a team that hasn’t managed a win against us in a season or a year, but which did manage a draw only a few weeks ago.
The Bhoys have no injuries to report, and we can expect an unchanged lineup and approach to the match, as we look to increase the record to 42 Scottish Cup wins. The team form has been pleasing for supporters and managers recently, and that will look to continue to the very final whistle. Brendan Rodgers has indicated his desire to send Joe Hart ‘off into the sunset’ with another trophy win, his sixth as he retires at the top of the game at 37.
Please note that we will hold the AGM of the Brussels CSC in the Wild Rover at 14:00 for anyone interested in attending.
Hail! Hail!

This is the best version of the team since I’ve been here...
CELTIC V THE RANGERS , SPFL, SATURDAY 11th MARCH - KICK-OFF @ 13:30
LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER (see WHERE-page)
Brendan Rodgers words may well spike a little interest in the media after a successful bear-baiting exercise last week, when he suggested that Bhoys just want to have fun, ahead of a potential title decider on Saturday.
Irrespective of his words, or those of his counterpart, The Rangers visit Celtic Park without any supporters. Despite this advantage for the visitors, a full home crowd will cheer on a full and fully fit first choice squad. Match fitness was given to Hatate, McGregor and Maeda last week in the 3-0 defeat of Hearts, and the same lineup can be expected to start on Saturday, barring late injuries. The Bhoys will be playing to win, knowing that not losing may be enough to all but secure the league.

26/04/2024 : DUNDEE V CELTIC (SPFL) SUNDAY, 28th APRIL 2024
More 7up?
DUNDEE V CELTIC , SPFL, SUNDAY, 28th APRIL - KICK-OFF @ 16:00
LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER (see WHERE-page)
The last time the Bhoys played the ‘Dee in the league, we scored 7 (seven) goals - with emphasis from those who remember Ceefax as your main update source – to record an impressive third victory of the season, and take the tally to 13 goals. There have been improvements by Dundee since, admittedly recently against average performances before their opponents upped their game to face Celtic, but assuming the pitch is fit to play on, Brendan Rodgers will take a nearly full squad to Dens Park. There are no new injuries to report, and hopefully defenders will be fit enough to defend crosses. Daizen Maeda has shown faster progress than anticipated, but Danger Mouse being quicker than anticipated would surprise nobody, least of all Tavernier.

19/04/2024 : ABERDEEN V CELTIC (SCOTTISH CUP SEMI-FINAL) SATURDAY 20th APRIL 2024
Ten in a row?
ABERDEEN V CELTIC , SCOTTISH CUP SEMI-FINAL, SATURDAY 20th APRIL - KICK-OFF @ 13:30
LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER (see WHERE-page)
Brendan Rodgers will be looking at a 10th successive win at Hampden tomorrow, where the Bhoys will face the Dons in the semi-final of the cup. The last time the two clubs met, it ended in a draw with caretaker Peter Leven once again in charge after rentamouth Neil Warnock has been and gone, and new boss Jimmy Thelin won’t yet be able to join the Aberdeen team who have proved relatively mean in defensive terms recently, but blunt in attack having failed to score in their last two outings.
Celtic have recently managed to inject some energy into attacks against defence minded teams, and will only miss the 21 second wonder Daizen Maeda and defender Liam Scales going into the clash, with everyone else likely to be fit and ready. Aberdeen will Graeme Shinne unavailable , as the wannabe Broony is suspended. Defender Slobodan Rubezic is also out injured.
We’ll be in the Wild Rover, with food available to take away from the next door Wild Geese.

05/04/2024 : THE RANGERS V CELTIC (SPFL) SUNDAY 7th APRIL 2024
A full squad?
THE RANGERS V CELTIC , SPFL, SUNDAY 7th MARCH - KICK-OFF @ 13:00
LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER (see WHERE-page)
Brendan Rodgers couldn’t seem to believe the words he was saying, with the confirmation that for the top of the table clash, he will have a full squad to choose from, having seen Calmac return to full training, and Reo Hatate and Cameron Carter Vickers play 90 minutes on a Spaghettihad pitch dodgier than a Govan HMRC return.
This, as ever, will be seen as a big test for Brendan, but he’s had a few of those, and lost one from nine. The main question may be who makes way to enable our Captain to start, which seems a certainty.
Good numbers already confirmed, and food service will be in place at our new/old home, and a chance for a photo of the CSC with our livery in place – an official unveiling, if you will – for all those that can make it.

Back to the Mac(aroni)…
LIVINGSTON V CELTIC, SPFL, SATURDAY 31th MARCH - KICK-OFF @ 13:00
LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER (see WHERE-page)
Despite refurbishment to the Wild Geese, the neighbouring Wild Rover will be open, serving takeaway food and showing the game today, with our own CSC signage now in place.
The Bhoys will be hoping Reo Hatate and Cameron Carter Vickers get some game time, although risks are likely to be as few if possible, given the surface. Calum McGregor will be ready next week and not for today, in a ground that has always proved tricky as an away test. If they can get through the dual tests of the pitch and VAR, then back to the top of the league we go.

3pm on a Saturday afternoon…?
CELTIC V ST JOHNSTONE , SPFL, SATURDAY 16th MARCH - KICK-OFF @ 16:00
LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER (see WHERE-page)
We’re back in Premiership action this weekend, and yes you read right, this game will be on the screen in the Wild Rover, where the slightest glimpse of green and white hoops is enough to get the channel switched and the sound on these days particularly if the Rugby starts right after full time...
The Bhoys will be glad to potentially welcome back big CCV, training again at Lennoxtown, but likely too soon for McGregor and Palma. Same again display would do fine for Daizen Maeda, while Yang continues his freeze frame suspension. We’ll be there to watch on the big screen as usual.

CELTIC V LIVINGSTON , SCOTTISH CUP QUARTER FINAL, SUNDAY 10th MARCH - KICK-OFF @ 15:30
LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER (see WHERE-page)
We’re back at Celtic Park, and back watching in our new home, the Wild Rover. Brendan Rodgers will have a few absences, notably the suspended Yang, and it has been confirmed that Liel Abada has chosen to leave the club, so wingers may need to step up for the Cup semi-final. Central defence is more settled, and the Bhoys will hope VAR isn’t the major influence on their progression in the cup.

17/02/2024 : CELTIC V KILMARNOCK (SPFL) SATURDAY 17th FEBRUARY 2024
A confirmed new home for the Brussels Bhoys and Ghirls…
CELTIC V KILMARNOCK , SPFL, SATURDAY 17th FEBRUARY - KICK-OFF @ 16:00
LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER (see WHERE-page)
After a trial period, the Wild Rover is now confirmed as the new home for the Brussels CSC, as the ability even to show the Saturday afternoon games and the dedicated approach of the Wild Rover staff to showing even a small screen for a dedicated group has been superb, so the emails will recommence, although increasingly please join the WhatsApp group and let me know if you’re not getting the information.
Today’s game will be screened, in the Wild Rover which has been redecorated with some of the CSC memorabilia. We’ll have a full and proper launch at an upcoming Sunday game, and more details to come, but for now today’s match will be vital in a tighter race than we wished, and Brendan Rodgers will want three points today to put pressure on VAR-assessed spot kick decisions on Sunday. There may be possibilities today of Greg Taylor returning against his former team, but it will be the performance that will put down a marker of how this team responds.

Glasgow’s Green and White v Buckie’s Green and White…
CELTIC V BUCKIE THISTLE , SCOTTISH CUP 4th ROUND, SUNDAY 21th JANUARY - KICK-OFF @ 17:00
LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER (see WHERE-page)
We’re back on TV this afternoon, as the Bhoys who have a long association with green and white, and many of their fans with Buckie, welcome some visitors from the frozen northern shores of Aberdeenshire who share their associations, not least the cousin of Stephen Welsh, Josh Peters, potentially lining up against him today.
Author Stephen King is Buckies most famous fan, but the Bhoys will look to avoid a horror show today and steer themselves into the next round. The game will come too soon for now signing Oliver Kuhn or for CCV, and Asian Cup duties rule out Maeda, Hatate, Oh and Yang, but still expect a strong lineup from Brendan Rodgers.
Game on in THE WILD ROVER. Next to the Wild Geese, and potentially our new home: see GOOGLE MAPS

Time to switch mindset?
ATLÉTICO MADRID V CELTIC, CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP E, WEDNESDAY 7h NOVEMBER - KICK-OFF @ 21:00
LIVE IN DE VALERA'S (see WHERE-page)
Game on in Madrid, where the pints of sangria are already flowing. Celtic emerged with credit, but only a point, in the home draw with Atlético, and will be looking for something special to get at the Spanish giants. Brendan has most of the Bhoys to choose from, barring Abada and Hatate, and will need to decide if the Bull or Bernardo get the nod alongside the surely returning O’Riley. A few more returnees in Palma, Maeda and Johnston (A) can similarly be expected back in the team.
The Bhoys won’t be underestimated, and it will take a big performance, but expect us to have a go.
Game on in De Valera’s.

Let’s get physical …
CELTIC V ATLÉTICO MADRID, CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP E, WEDNESDAY 25h OCTOBER - KICK-OFF @ 21:00
LIVE IN DE VALERA'S (see WHERE-page)
Celtic host the 2014 and 2018 Champions League finalist, and current Spanish league leaders tonight in a tough must-win match at Celtic Park. The wily Diego Simeone is occasionally described as deploying tough tactics to secure a win against higher rated teams, so Celtic will need to be mentally strong and keep their approach and their heads to get a result.
The substantial difference from the first two European matches will be in fitness and form. Cameron Carter-Vickers is returning to full fitness, and Liam Scales improves with each match, so both keep other returning centre-halves out the team. Elsewhere, the form of Hatate and O’Riley continues to improve, and Luis Palma showing real improvement if he can match the defensive work of Maeda.
Atléti have a few missing players in their €120m squad - centre back Jose Maria Gimenez is out injured and Rodgers' old Leicester City centre-back, Caglar Soyuncu, only made his comeback as a substitute on Saturday. Axel Witsel has been filling in in a back three in recent weeks in front of Jan Oblak, the Slovenian who is rated as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
We’ll need a big performance, for however many minutes it needs.
It’s on, at the bar, in De Valera’s.

HEARTS V CELTIC , SPFL, SUNDAY 22nd OCTOBER - KICK-OFF @ 15:15
LIVE IN DE VALERA'S (see WHERE-page)
Celtic travel to Edinburgh today, to meet an inconsistent Hearts side, and with a nearly full squad as defensive replacements return. Brendan Rodgers will be wary, having been on the losing side in his previous spell as manager, but has a good squad to choose from with Maik Nawrocki joining recent returnees to the squad, and good international performances from the likes of Palma and Hatate.
The game is on in De Valera’s.

The Romans are coming! …
CELTIC V LAZIO , CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP E, WEDNESDAY 4th OCTOBER - KICK-OFF @ 21:00
LIVE IN DE VALERA'S (see WHERE-page)
The Bhoys are at home for the second match in Champions League Group E, at home for the first time looking to build on a positive 45 minutes (but not 47 minutes) against Feyenoord. Lazio are sitting 16th in Serie A, and lost again at the weekend, but skipper Calmac importantly stressing that ‘it would be silly to disrespect’ Lazio.
The Bhoys will doubtlessly set up to defend well, but to get at Lazio at home with the crowd behind them. There will be changes with Lagerbielke suspended, and Nat Phillips the obvious replacement after some minutes at the weekend. Joe Hart will be likely to return in goal, even though Scott Bain claimed a place in the SPFL team of the week. The injury slate is slowly clearing, but likely too soon for Cameron Carter-Vickers or Nawrocki.

It’s on, with the sound on, in De Valera’s.

23/09/2023 : LIVINGSTON V CELTIC (SPFL) SATURDAY 23rd SEPTEMBER 2023
Life in plastic, not fantastic…
LIVINGSTON V CELTIC , SPFL, SATURDAY 23rd SEPTEMBER - KICK-OFF @ 13:30
LIVE IN DE VALERA'S (see WHERE-page)
Back to domestic action, and keeping the momentum at the top of the SPFL. Brendan will have a few Bhoys nearing action, most notably Mikey Johnston and Marco Tillio getting closer, and Hatate increasing fitness. A last minute decision will be made on Nat Phillips.
Livingston have only one win so far, but a few draws, and will be relying on the plastic pitch being a leveller in slowing play. Brendan may tweak the team, and avoid injuries.
It’s on, with the sound on, in De Valera’s.

19/09/2023 : FEYENOORD V CELTIC (CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP E) TUESDAY 19th SEPTEMBER 2023
Some you Wim …
FEYENOORD V CELTIC , CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP E, TUESDAY 19th SEPTEMBER - KICK-OFF @ 21:00

Celtic are already in Rotterdam for tonight’s fixture. This could be Rotterdam or anywhere, in Madrid or Rome, but points and performances will be the focus. It can be argued that Brendan’s Bhoys haven’t hit the heights yet, but the injury slate is slowly clearing, and tonight will be another test of a relatively new-look defence, with Philips, Lagerbielke and Scales the new names this season we didn’t foresee vying for a place. Elsewhere, great to see the return from injury and to some form of Hatate, and Kyogo will want to push on from improved performances to show what he can do on a bigger stage.
Feyenoord’s own Japanese boy Ueda will miss out, and their main in-form Mexican striker Santiago Gimenez suspended. They also have their first-pick keeper and right back likely to miss out, but this is a team that were Dutch champions and runners up in the UEFA Conference in 2021-22.

02/09/2023 : THE RANGERS V CELTIC (SPFL) SUNDAY 2nd SEPTEMBER 2023
Guess who’s back …?
THE RANGERS V CELTIC , SPFL, SUNDAY 2nd SEPTEMBER - KICK-OFF @ 13:00
LIVE IN DE VALERA'S (see WHERE-page)
So a few last minute changes, as the Brendan Rodgers era starts in earnest on Sunday. Big Ange is winning over the punters in England, albeit patronisingly, while events off and on the field show that a week is a long time in football. A slow-paced display and a few anxieties over personnel have seen new recruits on the other side of Glasgow, and familiar failings on the other. Too early to say the impact of changes in personnel, but Luis Palma, Paulo Bernardo and Nat Phillips will likely join Kobayahsi and Oh in joining the Bhoys squad immediately.
Their opponents were comprehensively spanked in midweek, and may feel they have a point to prove, or give, depending on if they can change approach. This will be a first test for Rodgers, who has tweaked tactics, but not yet seen his Bhoys move into the gear he might wish. An enticing tie all the same, and live in De Valera’s.
For anyone able to arrive early, we’ll start some discussions on future trips, communication and ambitions for the CSC around 11:30, and a full AGM will follow within the next few weeks.
