13/02/2015 : ST. JOHNSTONE V CELTIC, SPFL, SATURDAY, 14 FEBRUARY

Looking for their eighth win in a row, the Bhoys head to McDiarmid Park to take on St. Johnstone in the early kick-off game on Saturday.
ST. JOHNSTONE V CELTIC, SPFL, SATURDAY, 14 FEBRUARY, KICK-OFF 13H45, LIVE IN THE OLD OAK
The hosts are still smarting from their shock exit from the Scottish Cup last weekend at the hands of Queen of the South and will have a point to prove.
However, Celtic boss Ronny Deila is in confident mood about the current state of his squad, saying “there is more to come from the players; we can get better; the attitude and the spirit is very good”. He expresses satisfaction that "the offensive side of things is coming together more and more”. But he expects even more from his players, emphasising "that is the thing we have to work even more on to get better tempo in the last third of the pitch”. At the same time, he sees things progressing, highlighting that "we press hard and there is an intensity in everything we do”.
After the goalscoring debuts by Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong in the 3-0 victory over Partick on Wednesday evening, the manager has a strong squad to choose from for Saturday’s match as James Forrest and Leigh Griffiths, who were missing on Wednesday, will be back in the squad.
With the Europa League first leg against Inter less than a week away, we look to the Bhoys to keep their current momentum going and to bag another three points on Saturday.

10/02/2015 : PATRICK THISTLE V CELTIC, SPFL, WEDNESDAY, 11 FEBRUARY

After a successful couple of weeks of Cup action that sees the Bhoys still on course for the treble, it’s back to the main business of the SPFL when Celtic travel across Glasgow to take on Partick.
PATRICK THISTLE V CELTIC, SPFL, WEDNESDAY, 11 FEBRUARY, KICK-OFF 20H45, LIVE IN THE OLD OAK
While Ronny Deila may not wish to change a winning team, the good news is that he has the opportunity to rotate his squad and give debuts to new signings Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven, who were Cup-tied up to now. Some changes will be forced on the Celtic manager because Kris Commons and Mikael Lustig picked up injuries (hamstring and ankle respectively) in the 2-0 Cup victory at Dundee on Saturday and are definitely unavailable. Charlie Mulgrew also remains sidelined.
Celtic have been on an excellent run of form since their return from their winter break and remain unbeaten in 2015. Goalkeeper Craig Gordon has played an important part in that running, keeping a clean sheet in all six games since the winter break. However, he is wary that our opponents on Wednesday will be relishing the chance to cause an upset in this Glasgow derby.
He observes that "we’re playing well and we’re on a good run at the moment; the guys up front have done very well and I’ve not had too many shots to save so long may that continue". At the same time, he acknowledges that "Partick will be another difficult game. They attack very well. They create good chances. He warns that "our recent run of good form is under threat and they have scored some good goals this season, judging on what we’ve seen and how they like to play. He concludes that Partick "have some dangerous players and we’ll need to be right up for it and make sure that we play the style of football that we’ve been playing over the last few weeks and try to maintain our good run".
With the opportunity to open up a three-point lead at the top of the SPFL, we look forward to the Bhoys keeping their run going and winning the Glasgow derby on Wednesday.

05/02/2015 : CELTIC V DUNDEE, SCOTTISH CUP, 5TH ROUND, SATURDAY, 7 FEBRUARY

After dispatching the Rangers (2012) comfortably in the semi-final of the League Cup last weekend, the Bhoys dream of a domestic treble remains alive. However, they face a stiffer challenge on Saturday in the Scottish Cup when they travel to Dens Park to take on a Dundee side that will fancy its chances of catching Celtic off-guard.
CELTIC V DUNDEE, SCOTTISH CUP, 5TH ROUND, SATURDAY, 7 FEBRUARY, KICK-OFF 13H30, LIVE IN THE OLD OAK
Following the signings of Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong in the transfer window, Celtic can look ahead to the remainder of the season with increased confidence. But this will not deter a Dundee side that goes into the game on the back of a six-match unbeaten run. Under Paul Hartley’s management, Dundee have developed a strong fighting spirit, as demonstrated by coming from behind in their last two outings against Hamilton and St. Mirren.
Having scored the valuable first goal at Hampden last Sunday, Leigh Griffiths does not want to see the Bhoys’ cup run end but warns of the threat posed by Dundee. He recalls that "we went there last time and dropped two points and we were lucky to come away with a point, to be honest, because the chances they had with 10-15 minutes to go really should have buried us and put us out of sight" He emphasises that Dundee "have picked up results recently and they beat Aberdeen in the last round p so they will be looking forward to the game and will be looking to take another scalp".
It’s up to the Bhoys then to keep their focus and take another step towards a domestic treble.

29/01/2015 : CELTIC V RANGERS (2012), LEAGUE CUP SEMI-FINAL, SUNDAY, 1 FEBRUARY

It may not be the same club but, having waited three years, we’ll accept a game against the Rangers (2012) and particularly a Cup Semi-Final. And that’s important because let’s not forget the bigger picture: there’s a Cup final place to be secured on Sunday at Hampden.
CELTIC V RANGERS (2012), LEAGUE CUP SEMI-FINAL, SUNDAY, 1 FEBRUARY, KICK-OFF 14H30, LIVE IN THE OLD OAK
Given that Celtic did not make even the semi-final of a domestic Cup competition last season and have not won the League Cup since 2009, then there’s a lot more at stake on Sunday than playing the shadow team of our former Glasgow rivals.
And this, quite rightly, is uppermost in the mind of Celtic boss Ronny Deila. Experience tells him that "in the League Cup everything is possible and it’s one game". He strikes a realistic note when he says that "everybody's dreaming of a fantastic result but the only thing I'm dreaming of is to win. And that is what's in the players' minds as well". He emphasises that "it’s about a good performance and it’s about winning the game". He concludes that "as Celtic we are expected to go out and win, so this is nothing new to us. We just have to go to the match in the same way we have with every other game and make the performance and then we have a very good chance."
On paper, there should only be one winner.
The Bhoys go into the game in probably the best shape they have been all season, winning all three games since returning from the winter break and regaining top spot in the Premiership. By contrast, our opponents have only managed to scrape wins against Dumbarton and Alloa, two of the weaker Championship sides.
But that does not prevent our opponents from dreaming. Their captain, Lee McCulloch asserts that "the game is not as big as people are making out, not in my eyes. We’ve beaten Celtic before, so why can’t we go and do it again?" Come Sunday afternoon, we expect to have received an answer in no uncertain terms.
Here’s to the Bhoys marching on to victory and a place in the Cup final.

23/01/2015 : ROSS COUNTY V CELTIC, SPFL, SATURDAY, 24 JANUARY

After returning to the top of the table with their 4-0 thrashing of Motherwell in mid-week, the Bhoys travel to Dingwall to take on Ross County on Saturday.
ROSS COUNTY V CELTIC, SPFL, SATURDAY, 24 JANUARY, KICK-OFF 13H45, LIVE IN THE OLD OAK
Wednesday night’s victory was further sign that the Bhoys have benefitted from their winter break and training camp in the Canaries. Ross County managed to grind out a 0-0 draw at Celtic Park before the winter break. However, they remain firmly rooted to the bottom of the table so, in their current form, Celtic should make it three in a row since their return from their break.
Celtic boss Ronny Deila struck an optimistic note this week ahead of the Ross County match. He recognises that "we have to deal with breaking teams down, like Motherwell". He acknowledges that "Ross County did the same at home and I think it will be a quite similar match on Saturday". At the same time, he is definitely upbeat saying "I am confident we can stay on top of the league now we are back there" He asserts "that is the goal and I know we have a very strong squad- the main target is to win the league".
With a number of crucial matches coming up in February, the Bhoys need to keep building momentum on Saturday and take the three points that will guarantee Celtic remain top of the SPFL.
