31/08/2024 : CELTIC V THE RANGERS (SPFL) SUNDAY 1th SEPTEMBER 2024
“Not bad eh?” / “I think it will be really loud”
CELTIC V THE RANGERS , SPFL, SUNDAY 1th SEPTEMBER - KICK-OFF @ 13:30
LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER (see WHERE-page)
The words of our latest midfield signings, Luke McCowan and Arne Engels, on their first steps onto the Celtic Park as a Celtic Player and on the Glasgow Derby respectively. Neither will have had much sleep or get much time to train ahead of tomorrow’s game, but along with US centre back Auston Trusty and Alex Valle who signed earlier in the week, all 4 are likely to make the matchday squad for the visit of the Rangers team who have also dipped into the transfer market.
No other injuries to report, as the side that started the season strongly will be close to last week’s lineup, and the new signings will take the place of the departed Matt O’Riley, Tomoki Iwata and Mikey Johnston. Brendan Rodgers won’t take the game lightly ahead of the international break and the newly announced European fixtures, confirmed as follows:
Wednesday, September 18 | Celtic v Slovan Bratislava
Tuesday, October 1 | Borussia Dortmund v Celtic
Wednesday, October 23 | Atalanta v Celtic
Tuesday, November 5 | Celtic v RB Leipzig
Wednesday, November 27 | Celtic v Club Brugge
Tuesday, December 10 | Dinamo Zagreb v Celtic
Wednesday, January 22, 2025 | Celtic v Young Boys of Bern
Wednesday, January 29, 2025 | Aston Villa v Celtic
Exciting European nights await at Celtic Park, on the road, or live in the Wild Rover!
Hail! Hail!

24/08/2024 : ST MIRREN V CELTIC (SPFL) SUNDAY 25th AUGUST 2024 @ 13:00, LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER
"I would look at us over the coming week to be able to do some business and it shouldn't be reliant on players going out..."
ST MIRREN V CELTIC , SPFL, SUNDAY 25th AUGUST - KICK-OFF @ 13:00
LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER (see WHERE-page)
Strong words by Brendan Rodgers ahead of the visit to Paisley for our next league match against St Mirren, who have posed some problems in recent seasons, and nobody mention Tony Mowbray’s managerial stint. We’re likely to be with the Seagulls-bound Matt O’Riley, as it’s reported that Brighton & Hove Albion are breaking the Scottish transfer record to sign Celtic’s Player of the Year. New signings or a mutiny will be expected to bring us up to strength, but we have some new(ish) faces in, but later in our dealings to the frustration of many fans.
No new updates on the squad, but Kyogo will once again be available.
The game goes on, and we’ll be in our usual spot.
Hail! Hail!

17/08/2024 : CELTIC V HIBERNIAN (SLC 2nd ROUND) SUNDAY 18th AUGUST 2024 @ 16:00, LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER
Lunchtime in Leith...
CELTIC V HIBERNIAN , SCOTTISH LEAGUE CUP 2nd ROUND, SUNDAY 18th AUGUST - KICK-OFF @ 16:00
LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER (see WHERE-page)
We’re facing last week’s opponents, Hibernian, who were so roundly beaten in 2-0 going on 10 that they immediately decided to loan a player who didn’t make the squad. Kwon won’t be eligible, but the newly re-signed Adam Idah will come into contention. Brendan may go with the same lineup again, checking injuries on a few players including subbed sub Mikey Johnston.
We’ll be looking for the same again, but more goals after 19 minutes than last week to be able to give some players more game time if possible, and the Hibees ability to play 70 minutes without conceding to this Celtic team means there will be no room for complacency.
We go again!
Hail! Hail!

HIBERNIAN V CELTIC , SPFL, SUNDAY 11th AUGUST - KICK-OFF @ 13:30
LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER (see WHERE-page)
After a blistering start, we’re off to Leith to face a Hibees team comprehensively beaten by St Mirren in their first match of the season. The Bhoys will be hoping to have Daizen Maeda back in their ranks, but otherwise no major injuries to report. Bernardo may also come into contention, but man fans will be looking for Matt O’Riley’s name to be included until another team understands the expression ‘asking price’.
We go again!

Flag Day!
CELTIC V KILMARNOCK , SPFL, SUNDAY 4th AUGUST - KICK-OFF @ 17:30
LIVE IN THE WILD ROVER (see WHERE-page)
We’re off and running today for the new season, and in fairly upbeat mode, with a preseason that perhaps hasn’t had many incoming, but few outgoings either. Mikey Johnston has returned to the fold, and may start today, while Kasper Schmeichel slots straight in for his retired former Manchester City teammate Joe Hart, having shown he’s lost none of his edge.
A new edge was perceived in preseason for Nicholas Kuhn and Kyogo, both of whom may start, but the game may be too early for Alistair Johnston after featuring in the Copa America team of the tournament, or the returning permanently Paolo Bernardo.
It will be good to make a positive start. See you there!
